Smilecloud: Facially Driven Treatment Planning

Session Overview

For clinicians working in implantology, esthetic rehabilitation, and interdisciplinary dentistry, the ability to align vision—across disciplines and with the patient—is fundamental to achieving predictable, high-quality outcomes.

In contemporary implant and restorative dentistry, digital planning is no longer optional. It is a decisive advantage.

This Straumann Corporate Forum session explores how facially guided 3D Smile Design, powered by Smilecloud, enables predictable planning and personalized outcomes across a wide range of clinical scenarios—from full-mouth rehabilitations to localized esthetic smile transformations.

Rather than relying on preset templates, the session focuses on how clinicians can use 3D Smile Design as a creative and diagnostic starting point—supporting natural, individualized esthetics within interdisciplinary workflows.

Clinical Focus

Participants will gain insight into how digital tools support early, informed decision-making by enabling:

  • Digital assessment of soft and hard tissue architecture

  • Facial analysis as the foundation of esthetic planning

  • Early identification of the need for orthodontics, regenerative procedures, or perio-prosthetic interventions

  • Improved alignment between surgical, restorative, and laboratory workflows

Through clinical examples, the session demonstrates how Smilecloud enhances communication—not only with patients, but across the entire treatment team, including the dental laboratory.

By aligning the esthetic vision from the first consultation to the final result, Smilecloud supports biologically sound, functionally stable, and esthetically meaningful outcomes.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify key clinical and anatomical criteria for selecting cases suitable for immediate implant placement in single-tooth sites

  • Understand surgical and prosthetic techniques that enhance primary stability and preserve peri-implant hard and soft tissues

  • Apply evidence-based protocols to reduce biological and technical complications

  • Support long-term functional and esthetic success in immediate implant therapy
